A pretty good deal

A pretty good deal

Fame and fortune I’ve never seen.
True love remained a distant dream.
No great truth was to me revealed.
But when I look at me, for real
I think I’ve got a pretty good deal.

Got two legs to go round the earth.
Two hands to make some things of worth.
Two eyes to watch sun, moon, and hills.
A mind to tell good from evil.
I think I’ve got a pretty good deal.

Got place to rest and books to read.
Some clothes to keep from cold and heat.
Tea in morning and timely meals.
Some hobbies to nurture my skills.
I think I’ve got a pretty good deal.

My folks at home make me feel blessed.
My co-workers seem quite harmless.
My few good friends and their goodwill
Keep up my hope, fill me with zeal.
I think I’ve got a pretty good deal.

I doubt sometimes if it is fair.
But on seeing what fell into my share
It’s only gratefulness I feel.
I know I’ve got a pretty good deal.
I know I’ve got a pretty good deal.

  1. Amazing poem!!! This is relatable on so many levels. We go through our lives without paying gratitude to small goods things and this is truly a reminder of that.
